Although plenty of bike paths line the Madison area, there is no prettier place to run than the Lakeshore Path. Runners can catch the pathway from the Terrace and take it all the way around University Bay to Picnic Point. Click to read a fascinating history about the path and the Lakeshore Nature Preserve.
Native Americans tread daily along this path, leading them to water, and today students and Madisonians alike run, walk and bike along it for a beautiful view of Lake Mendota. I have ran one 5K along the path, and as I prepare for the Madison Mini Marathon, I will continue many runs along it throughout the summer.
Below are some of my favorite photos from running trips along the path.
