Laugh at the Comedy Club

While heading to power hour and drinking fishbowls are always a good time, there are too many fun things to do in Madison to get into a weekend rut. Last weekend my roommates and I were looking to mix up our regular routine, so we headed to the Comedy Club on State Thursday night.

The Club is hidden underneath the Associated Bank on Dayton and State (you’ve probably walked past it a million times) and is worth stopping in for a visit. There’s not much to see when entering the building, but once downstairs the place quickly transforms into a cool underground club.

But be warned: this is not your average college-town basement party. Small candle-lit tables fill the room, while larger tables and leather couches line the back wall, creating an intimate atmosphere for the audience during the show.

Thursdays are the perfect night to go, as students get in for just $2 with their student IDs.

However, there is a two drink minimum in the showroom and drinks include soda ($2), martinis ($8) and jumbo punch bowls ($25).

Comedian Dave Waite, who has been featured on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, headlined last weekend’s shows along with Jon Huck and Chris Lay. New comedians perform weekly, and many have been featured on nationally-known stages. With new performers every week, you never know what kind of experience you will have.

We had a great girl’s night out at the Comedy Club – it’s definitely something everyone should take advantage of at least once!

Check out the Comedy Club for a list of show times and headliners.
