This Week in Madison: Music Madness

Did you know you can see a live band nearly every day of the week this summer.. for free? In addition to the big names listed below there are tons of bands that play nightly at restaurants and bars like Samba, Brocach, the Ivory Room and the Alchemy. Be sure to take advantage of these awesome events!

Monday June 25: The Madison Brass Band will perform for the free concert series at Warner Park  from 6-730 pm.

Tuesday June 26: Take your lunch break outside with Universal Sound during Lunch Time Live at the Capitol. The band plays from 12-1pm on the King Street Walkway. Later, reggae and roots group, Taki Allstars headline the Summer Concerts at Olbrich Gardens, with a show staring at 7pm.The concert is free, but $1 admission is suggested.

Wednesday June 27: The Pastoral Dances Cellist and the Trinity Irish Dancers kick off the first Concert on the Square (King St. side) at 7pm. In the opposite direction, Problem Child and Golden Donna headline this week’s local music Wednesday at the Terrace at 8pm.

Thursday June 28: Mark Croft Band, an acoustic pop and roots band, will perform for this week’s Concerts on the Rooftop at the Monona Terrace at 7pm.

Friday June 29: Head to the Ivory Room Piano Bar for all requests all night long or down to the Terrace for Jazz from 5-7pm and Americana folk band Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons at 9:30.

Saturday June 30: Celebrate the 4th of July with the 20th annual Independence Day festival at Warner Park. Madisonians can join celebration at Warner Park with the Mallards and music, or enjoy the fireworks from their favorite spot on campus. Sunday July 1: Enjoy live music and great food at either Samba Brazilian Grill (7-9) or Brocach Irish Pub (5pm).

Summerfest: Also starting this week is the 45th year of Summerfest, the ‘World’s Largest Music Festival’ conveniently located in Milwaukee, Wis. The 11-day festival runs from June 27-July 1 and July 3-8. Although there is an admission fee, Summerfest boasts 10 stages of free music all day, every day for the entire festival. Definitely worth the drive to Milwaukee. Check out the complete music schedule here.
